A deep well of
practical ideas,
shipped as real apps.

00 / Overview↓ SCROLL

Appwell Labs turns a deep well of practical ideas into industry-leading apps built for real-world impact. We ship our own products — starting with ScrumAI — and partner with a handful of teams each year.

01 / ManifestoWhat we believe

A deep well of practical ideas, drawn up as real apps.

Small team, real craft.

No dashboards full of meetings. Designers and engineers sit in the same loop, ship the same week, and own the result end-to-end.

Opinionated by default.

Software with a point of view ages better than software built by committee. We pick a position, defend it, and revise when reality disagrees.

AI as ingredient, not garnish.

Models earn their keep by removing real work — not by sprinkling chat bubbles on otherwise fine products.

Quiet interfaces, loud ideas.

Restraint at the surface, density underneath. The best interface is one that disappears the moment you understand what to do.

02 / PortfolioIn the stable

A small set of products, each built to last beyond the trend cycle.

Async standups for engineering teams. ScrumAI DMs your team in Slack, Discord or Teams, then writes a tight AI summary and surfaces blockers — so you can finally take the 15-minute meeting off your calendar.

The async standup, in chat.

At your standup time, the bot DMs each teammate three short questions in Slack, Discord, or Teams. They reply on their own time.

ScrumAI · 9:00 AMMorning, Alex. Three quick ones — reply when you can.1  What did you ship yesterday?2  What's on deck today?3  Anything blocking you?
Alex · 9:14 AM1. Wrapped the passkeys migration PR — it's in review.
2. Starting the rate-limit refactor today.
3. Waiting on Sam for the auth feature flag.
ScrumAI · 9:14 AM Got it. Flagged Sam on the blocker. See you tomorrow.
SCRUMAI · DASHBOARD · TUE OCT 14
Skim the day. Skip the meeting.

When the response window closes, ScrumAI writes a tight AI readout: what shipped, what's next, and who's blocked.

AI summary · Platform teamPasskeys migration landed in review (Alex). Rate-limit refactor begins today. Onboarding redesign is mid-flight with Maya. One blocker: Alex is waiting on Sam for an auth feature flag.

03 / ServicesFor partners

When we're not building our own, we build with a few selective partners each year.

A

0 → 1 product builds

Founder-stage teams looking to take a sharp concept from whiteboard to a real, shipping v1. Designed, engineered and infra'd by one tight pod.

B

AI integration

Embedding modern models into existing products — the unglamorous parts: evals, fallbacks, latency, cost, and the question of whether you needed AI at all.

C

Design system overhaul

For teams whose product has outgrown its scaffolding. We rebuild the system around how your team actually ships, not how a Figma library prefers to.

D

Embedded engineering

A senior pod plugged into your team for a quarter or two. We pick up the hard problem, ship it, and document our way out.

E

Technical due diligence

Pre-acquisition or pre-investment audits of codebases, infrastructure and team practice. Direct, written, no theatre.

F

Studio residency

For one or two companies a year — long-term partnership where we treat your product like one of our own. Limited capacity.

04 / ProcessHow we work

Short loops, written decisions, and shipping weekly by default.

Wk 01

Intake

Two written conversations and a workshop. We leave with a one-page brief or we tell you we're not the right team.

Wk 02–03

Shape

Sharp prototypes, not slide decks. We design against real data, real flows, and the hardest screen first.

Wk 04–10

Build

Demo every Friday. Production code from day one. Decisions in writing, in a place we can both search later.

Wk 11+

Handoff

Documented, tested, and walked through with your team. We stay on retainer if you'd like — most don't need us to.

05 / ContactStart a project

Tell us what you're actually trying to build.

We read every note personally. If it's a fit, you'll hear from a founder within two business days. If it isn't, we'll point you at someone we think could help.

  • We take on roughly six engagements a year.
  • Most projects start within 3–5 weeks of first contact.
  • NDAs welcome — just say so in the note.
  • Open to equity-and-cash arrangements for the right team.
